No, and be sceptical of anything that claims to. We tell you what is in a product, what each ingredient does, and what the published rules say about it. Whether that suits you is your call, and for a health concern it is a pharmacist's or a doctor's.

Because we couldn't defend one. A single number implies a judgement about safety that the information behind it doesn't support, and it would hide everything worth reading. We show named, separate notes instead, so you can see exactly what was looked at.

Ingredient lists are recorded from the pack and reviewed by a person before they go in. The regulatory notes come from published EU cosmetics rules — the limits, conditions and labelling requirements themselves — and each note names the rule so you can go and read it. The plain-language explanations are written by us.

No. The same product always gives the same answer, and nothing is invented. If we don't hold something, the page says so rather than filling the gap with a guess.

You'll be told plainly, it won't cost one of your free analyses, and you can send us the packaging if you'd like to help. Products people scan and we miss are the main thing that decides what we add next.

Because it is. A record nobody has yet checked against a photograph of the pack says so, and one that has been checked says that too. Pretending everything is equally reliable would be the dishonest option.

Use the report link on the product page. A person reads every correction and checks it before anything on the page changes — including when the correction is ours.

Formulations change without the barcode changing, and the same product can be made to a different formula for a different market. Where it matters to you, the pack in your hand wins — tell us and we will update the record.

No. Your scans are private to your account; nobody at BeautySignal can read them — not support, not us. It isn't a promise not to look: access is restricted so that only the account holder can read their own history.

No. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers and no analytics service receiving your scans. We count things in aggregate — how often products are scanned, which barcodes come back unknown — so we know what to add next.

Yes. Export everything we hold on you from Account settings, whenever you like.
